AI prompts library
The prompts that power the Advisor on this site are published openly. Anyone can read them, critique them, fork them, or use them in their own work under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. Open prompts demonstrate no hidden bias, allow external audit, and ensure fork-ability if the organisation is ever captured or diverted.
Why open prompts
The Advisor is an AI-powered document analysis and conversation interface. Its outputs are shaped by the prompts we give it. If those prompts are hidden, any bias they carry is hidden too. If the prompts are public, any user — or critic — can check whether the system has been engineered to a particular position.
Three specific benefits:
- No hidden bias. A reader can see whether the prompts are neutral, whether they favour a position, whether they encode assumptions. If the prompts are suspect, criticism can be specific.
- External audit. Researchers, regulators, and journalists can independently audit the Advisor's behaviour by running the published prompts against the same or different models.
- Fork-ability. If Homeowner.org.nz is ever captured, diverted, or closed down, anyone can take the prompts and rebuild an equivalent service elsewhere. No knowledge is lost.
What will be published
- System prompts — the baseline instructions that define the Advisor's role, tone, and discipline.
- Task-specific prompts — for document analysis (disclosure document, building report, agency agreement, LIM).
- Retrieval and grounding — the NZ-specific knowledge base the Advisor references (statutes, standards, case law summaries).
- Example inputs and outputs — sample analyses for external replication.
- Change log — every prompt change, time-stamped, with the rationale for the change.
What will not be published
- Members' uploaded documents — these are private data, never open-sourced.
- Members' personal conversations with the Advisor — these are private data, retained only as long as the member chooses.
- Account-level information — usernames, emails, payment details.
